This is my current instrument, it is a ZEISS Axiophot 1, a direct descendant of the glorious ZEISS PHOTOMICROSCOPE III. This type of microscope, specifically designed for photomicrography, it is distinguished from other types because in them the Photomicrographic apparatus is constructed internally rather than being adapted as an accessory. This microscope, born in the late 80s, has the distinction of being modular, that can be assembled with various modules to have different configurations, among its main features, infinity objectives, can support different types of camera, Optovar by 1 to 4x zoom, remote control camera, fluorescence filter block with 7 positions.
The techniques are supported: Brightfield, Darkfield, Polarization, Phase Contrast, Episcopy, Epi-Fluorescence, DIC, COL, Rheinberg. It also allows the use of techniques such as composite: Epi-Fluorescence DIC, COL-Rheinberg, Epi-fluorescence-Phase Contrast, etc..
Video recording devices are: PAXCAM 2.0 Mp professional camera, compact camera SONY DSC-S85 4MP, compact camera Panasonic DMC-FZ8 12MP.
The shooting set has recently been further expanded with the purchase of a Reflex camera DSLR, the Canon EOS 600D.
The camera was connected "directly" to the microscope's trinocular tube, without adding intermediate lenses, but using only a 'Photo Adapter' that allowed direct connection to the head of the device. The advantage, enormous as the photos also demonstrate, is the greater sharpness and the lack of any type of spherical and chromatic aberration introduced by any intermediate lenses.
