I got my first microscope when I was 7 years old, it was black metal, light through the mirror, no condenser, one 10x eyepiece, three objectives: 10x, 20x, 40x. The second came a year later, the same as the first but with greater magnification 10x, 40x, 75x. The vision was rough and complicated, but a lot of passion, using these basic tools I opened a wonderful, unbelievable and infinite world.
The first binocular came about fifteen years ago, it was a Zeiss KF-2, 10W lamp illumination, fixed condenser with iris, four semi-plan achromatic objectives, standard tube length of 160mm, an instrument of great value for sharpness of the details in the observation and ease of use. He was replaced after a couple of years since the trinocular Zeiss Standard 16, which allowed a very significant future growth as it is already a modular instrument. This was the microscope that introduced me to several years and served in the discovery of microscopy and various techniques related to it. Starting from a base configuration, which allowed only the brightfield technique, it was increased to darkfield and phase contrast, polarization and then COL, and last the fluorescence, a technique that despite its complexity fascinated me immediately, and for this reason was experienced in a special way.
From here, the developments have been directed mainly towards the lighting, converted from halogen 10W to LED 5W a personal achievement that has given me much satisfaction and allowed some tests very interesting.
Thus, even for the fluorescence was changed the source of light, from 50W halogen to 5W LED (Royal Blue and Green) a pioneer choice for the time; the effect, in both cases, was very positive.
The recording devices were: 2.0 Mp PAXCAM professional camera, 2 Mp OLYMPUS C-220 compact camera. Some photos of this site have been created through the use of this instrument with this type of devices.
