The main feature of stereo microscopes or stereomicroscopes is the three-dimensional view of what we're watching, this is possible because this type of instrument has a pair of objectives and oculars working simultaneously giving a very real subject.
The stereomicroscope scans objects mainly by means of reflected light, the magnification is quite low compared to a biological microscope, ranging from 10x to 50x, but can also reach higher values in the case of more sophisticated instruments and for professional purposes.
These microscopes are suitable for the observation of insects, minerals, coins and opaque objects that have a certain thickness. They are also very useful for observation of electronic circuits, fossils and fiber.
My stereo is a AURIGA, binocular, with a zoom lens from 0.7 x to 3.5 x. The magnification is possible, therefore, from 7x to 35x with 10x eyepieces and 14x to 70x with 20x eyepieces.
It is used mainly for the preparation of specimens which will then be seen with the biological microscope
